Lectionary Based Curriculum
This fall, Westminster is very excited to be using a Church-Wide study experience. Lectionary based curriculums are designed to unify the teachings and preaching of a church-family. It is produced to follow the three year cycle of Biblical texts that are read and expounded upon within the worship service. So, in essence, what we learn in Sunday School directly correlates to the worship that immediately follows.
From the nursery through older adults, we study the same texts and same stories on appropriate age levels. This concept unifies us as a Church family and allows us to discuss and live our worship experience throughout the week. With the scripture read each week, the lessons seek to answer the questions:
- What is important to know (about this passage)?
- Where is God in these words?
- What does this mean for my life?
- What is God's word calling us to do?
Adult Classes (9:45 a.m. Sunday Mornings)
Seekers (Adult) - rooms 1 & 2: "The Present Word"
Inquirers (Adult) - "Feasting on the Word"
Coffee, Choruses, and Conversation (Adult) “ Fellowship Hall -- "Feasting on the Word"
We'll sing a few choruses, led by Pastor Rick or someone else. This is not a "contemporary service" per se. It IS a mix of worship and light Bible study, designed to complement and support the 11 a.m. service. The atmosphere will be informal, and people will be encouraged to share coffee and conversation, except during the 10-minute "theme introduction time.
